Key Topic 1: Does the item need nominated signatory review
Global nominated signatories can find a full list of items requiring nominated signatory review and approval in Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for the Review and Approval of promotional and non-‐promotional material developed by Global Product and Portfolio Strategy (GPPS) and Global Medical Affairs (GMA).
Local nominated signatories should refer to AstraZeneca policies and their local regulations and codes of practice. Where details is lacking in local regulations, the GPS SOP may be used for guidance but a local procedure should be written to define those materials requiring review. As a nominated signatory, you must ensure that assets comply with all applicable company global policies and standards, including the Ethical Interactions policy as well as your local regulations and codes of practice.
Assets should be approved in their final form to which no further changes will be made. Generally approval is given for a maximum of one year after which continued use requires re-approval. Re-approval may be at two years where local procedures and regulations allow.

Click on the assets below to indicate which documents you believe require nominated signatory approval before use:
- Exhibition stand at international congress
- Medical budget plans
- Visual aid produced by a marketing company
- Corporate press release
- Disease awareness website
As you can see you are likely to be asked to approve a wide range of assets. The remaining topics in this module will explain some basic principles that you should apply to all assets.
