Key Topic 1: Market Research - Subtopic 4: Rights of respondents
Local rules may vary considerably with respect to the rights of participants in market research. However as a nominated signatory you should consider:
Confidentiality
Responses given during the research should be treated as confidential and should only be used for the purposes of the research. Confidentiality agreements should be in place with participants.
Privacy
The research and handling of data must comply with local data privacy laws. Personal data should not be kept for longer than needed.
Consent
Participants should be fully aware that they are taking part in a research exercise and consent for their contributions to be used as intended. They also have the right to withdraw from the activity at any time.
Adverse event reporting
Participants must be made aware of the requirements with respect to adverse event reporting and the company’s obligations.
Fees
Participants may be paid a modest fee (Fair Market Value according to AZ policies). No cash payments (or cash equivalents such as vouchers) are to be used. Where Market Research is conducted through a Third Party, AstraZeneca must enter into a written agreement with that Third Party and participants must be paid directly by that Third Party.
