Key Principles for Digital Assets
This e-learning module will review the considerations necessary when reviewing digital assets. All of the principles covered in the ‘principles of review’ and principles of promotion’ modules apply to digital assets.
Digital media communication content, including outbound links, must be reviewed and re-approved at least once every 2 years. This frequency may need to increase under certain circumstances e.g. if the product label changes. (Refer to the Global Digital Standard for more information)
There are also some more specific considerations that should be applied to digital assets. These considerations are listed below –we will cover each in more detail in the following screens:
- Approve all components together in final form – interactivity and multiple channels mean that this aspect of final review before approval is critical for digital media
- There is a great deal of national variation in regulations pertaining to digital materials. Check your local regulations.
- General public access - many digital channels are accessible to the general public and this requires special consideration in terms of promotional material
- Digital communications and channels must comply with data privacy and IT security policies and standards
- Permission - when digital channels are used proactively to deliver promotional information to a target audience, prior permission from the recipients is required. Users must be able to ’unsubscribe’ from such material being sent to them.
